I first studied Bioengineering at KIT before moving to TUM to earn a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics. During my studies, I developed a strong interest in medicine and microbiology. I am particularly interested in how the human microbiome can impact host health, and therefore, I recently began my PhD in Carolin's lab. Here, I focus on bacteria of the genus Desulfovibrio, investigating their adaptation to survive harsh conditions in the human gut, their involvement in IBD, and, specifically, the role of mobile genetic elements.
